Excited to share my final project in Unreal Engine at Brickland!
This time, we were given a mostly free hand to visualize our cars however we wanted. I decided to embark on an exploration inspired by Renaissance Vaporwave. I wanted to see what was possible and if the results would be compelling. Surprisingly, building the scene was quite straightforward, taking roughly two working days to finalize the environment, with an additional day learning PCG to add the grass as a finishing touch.
Reflecting on the process, I believe this scene would truly shine with more rugged looking vehicles like a G-Klass, Ford Bronco, or Jeep Wrangler.
Thrilled with the outcome and eager to continue pushing creative boundaries in Unreal!
Unfortunately, as far as I know, Unreal Engine does not support render passes, so I only had the Cryptomatte and the rendered beauty pass to work with. This approach worked fine for what I needed to do.
I used Adobe's generative fill in a few areas to "correct" reflections, as well as to remove visually obvious grass that was either protruding into or out of objects.
For the video I used Davinci Resolve to edit and color correct so it looked similar to the stills.
