Since a few months back my instagram has been flooded with ads for a type of belt that used a ratcheting mechanic to keep tight, and I liked the idea of it so much that I decided to make a project of that. When looking for references I got drawn to the ones made by Kore Essentials, which are the ones you can see above.

Unfortunatly I could not find any finished model of this type of belt so I had to sit down and model it myself. As I'm not a surface designer it was a bit daunting, but thankfully we had a modeling class at YRGO where we had to make our own asset. (Full breakdown on this will be coming as a google slide shortly, learned a lot)

When the modeling was finally done, I wanted to do two things.
1. Make images for a PDP with two colour versions of the belt.
2. Make a sort of artistic photoshoot with the buckle disassembled, inspired by what Industriromantik did with Swedese.

After setting up their scenes I rendered them both as Multilayer EXR and did my compositing in Davinci Resolve.
Here is my setup in Davinci Resolve Fusion. Didn't do too much, added some chromatic aberration, film grain and a slight defocus. Then just a bit of colour correction. Never composited in Davinci Resolve before, it felt similar to Nuke but I enjoyed it a lot more.
Blackmagic also doesn't bill me every month for using it.

Here's a simpler setup for the PDP images. Just added denoise, merged the shadow catcher and a bit of film grain to top it off.
